ANNA: Photography by Gustavo Castillo - Exhibition Continues
Office hours are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm
Exhibition continues through November 28th, 2016.
A collaboration between Artist-in-Residence Anna Yarrow and photographer Gustavo Castilla, documenting body, presence, time, and emergence as she turns 37.
A single mother, Anna Yarrow provides care for eleven children to fund her artist residency at El Zaguán on Canyon Road. Photographer, published poet and essayist, dancer, musician – Anna experiences all of life as Art. “Am I creating Art, or is Art creating me?”
This show is an act of emergence. A willingness to see and be seen. Body. Presence. Power. Collaboration with a respectful "male gaze." Anna – age 37 – here I am.
Gustavo Castilla is an art photographer based in Santa Fe. He makes tintypes using the same wet-plate process invented by Frederic Archer in the 1850s, a process used to document the Civil War.
In August 2016, photographer Anna Yarrow offered to face the camera – and a lively collaboration was born. A confluence of dreams, symbol, elements of nature and the human form – Gustavo creates images of Anna as she sees herself.
