Roque Tudesqui House
135 East De Vargas Street

This area was originally part of Santa Fe's ancient Barrio de Analco, settled in the early 1600s by Tlascalan Indians from Central Mexico. By the nineteenth century the neighborhood housed several of Santa Fe's leading merchants. Before 1841, Italian-born Roque Tudesqui purchased the west section of this building, now privately owned. In 1852 the east section was owned by merchant Pablo Delgado, a member of the same family as Felipe B. Delgado. The Foundation purchased the east side from a private owner in 1987. The L-shaped Territorial style residence is noted for its brick coping, three foot thick adobe walls, and deeply inset windows. (Private residence)
