The Delgado-Hare House is one of several homes in Santa Fe remodeled by designer Kate Chapman. Chapman purchased the old adobe house, on the south side of the Acequia Madre irrigation ditch, from Ildeberto Delgado in 1924. Chapman’s remodel introduced partition walls to create interior access between rooms and added three rooms to the south side of the property. The house is one of a set of homes Chapman developed in the 1920s in the immediate neighborhood, including Chapman’s own family home, located on a six-acre parcel at 615 Acequia Madre. The Delgado-Hare House is typical of Chapman’s sensitive yet eclectic remodeling of historic properties in Santa Fe.
