Historic Santa Fe Foundation Presents Home Again: A New Exhibition by Jesse Blanchard Celebrating Season, Light, and Santa Fe’s Historic Landscape
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
SANTA FE, NM — The Historic Santa Fe Foundation (HSFF) is pleased to present Home Again, a new exhibition of works by artist Jesse Blanchard exploring themes of belonging, seasonal transition, and local place through expressive architectural and landscape paintings. The exhibition opens at the Gallery at El Zaguán, located at 545 Canyon Road, on Friday, August 28, 2026, and remains on view through September 19, 2026.
An Opening Reception will take place on Friday, August 28, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. To close the exhibition, HSFF will host an Artist Talk with Jesse Blanchard on Saturday, September 19, at 2:00 PM.
In Home Again, Blanchard draws clear visual parallels between his roots in Vermont and his deep-seated life in New Mexico. Through rich color palettes of blue, ochre, stone, and seasonal foliage, the collection captures the distinct rhythms of Santa Fe—from crisp autumn light and quiet winter mornings to the vibrant warmth of community gatherings in historic neighborhoods.
Having exhibited across the country and internationally since the late 1990s, including regional representation at local Santa Fe galleries such as LewAllen Contemporary and Selby Fleetwood Gallery, Blanchard brings a seasoned eye and fine-art background to El Zaguán. His work offers an intimate view of Santa Fe’s historic structures, outdoor light, and diverse cultural community.
“To live within this community and capture its spirit in architecture and landscape is a true privilege,” notes Blanchard. “Santa Fe’s history encompasses so many cultures and stories. This collection reflects my own journey, the love of home, and the shared seasons that connect us all.”

About the Artist:
Jesse Blanchard’s artistic career is shaped by the places he has called home: the green hills of Vermont, the serene shores of Anguilla in the British West Indies, and the expansive high-desert landscape of New Mexico. Having lived in Santa Fe for over twenty years, Blanchard draws daily inspiration from the region’s mountains, canyons, and historic architecture through hiking, skiing, and exploring the outdoors.
Blanchard’s work explores pattern, structure, and perspective—moving fluidly between aerial views and wide horizons. Pushing the boundaries of traditional mediums, his mixed-media compositions on paper combine woodblock printing, monotypes, drawing, collage, and sewn cloth. Originally developed by recycling earlier works into layered sketches, this technique has evolved into a central pillar of his creative practice. Inspired by modern masters like Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebaud, Yvonne Jacquette, and David Hockney, Blanchard translates his personal experiences of place into a distinct visual style defined by texture, mark-making, and rich color palettes.
His work has been exhibited in galleries across the United States and the Caribbean, including past representation at LewAllen Contemporary and Selby Fleetwood Gallery in Santa Fe.
