Artist Apartment Available in the Heart of Downtown Santa Fe
in HSFF’s Historic Compound El Zaguán

Historic Santa Fe Foundation has a long tradition to renting apartments to artists. Many artists have lived and been inspired by the historic setting in El Zaguán on Canyon Road in the heart of Santa Fe.

This artist apartment has two bedrooms with abundant historical style and a quirky, historic charm. The living room’s view looks out on the shared communal area offering opportunity for engagement with other resident artists in a private setting. One bedroom offers a cozy space also perfect for an office. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub and the adjacent hall closet provides additional storage in the comfy historic apartment. The street-side bedroom looks out on Canyon Road and takes in the warmth of the afternoon sun. The kitchen and smaller bedroom offer access to the private courtyard reserved exclusively for this apartment. Finally, one cannot express the beauty of the grounds in full bloom with the historic garden established in the mid-1800s and the seperate and private lower orchard and fountain.

Live in a setting that includes a community of working artists and The Historic Santa Fe Foundation as a backdrop on Canyon Road. One-year lease with option to renew. Monthly rent is $1,850.00. First/last month’s rent and a $1,000.00 deposit required. Artist must pay electric. No pets and no smoking.

Historic Santa Fe Foundation’s El Zaguán Resident Artist Policy
To be considered for this apartment the prospective tenant must be a working artist or writer. Samples of work and a CV and a short description of how you imagine your first show in Gallery El Zaguán, will be required and submitted with the completed rental application. We suggest that all files are submitted as a PDF if applicable for ease of viewing.

All applications will be considered by agents of the Historic Santa Fe Foundation and the new tenant selected as best fits the Foundation’s goals. The new tenant must also be willing and happy to participate in the artist community of three working artists living at El Zaguán. Lease is reviewed on a yearly basis. Leases can be renewed by mutual consent of the tenant and the Historic Santa Fe Foundation. A maximum of three years lease/residency is allowed.
